The action principle of the High voltage DC Contactor is similar to that of the AC contactor, but the magnetic field energy stored by the inductive load is released instantaneously when the DC is interrupted, and the high-energy arc is generated at the breakpoint. Therefore, the DC contactor is required to have a certain arc extinguishing function. High voltage DC Contactors often use a single-break point plane layout overall structure, which is characterized by a long arc distance when breaking, and an arc-extinguishing grid inside the arc-extinguishing cover.
When selecting a High voltage DC Contactor, it should be noted that the rated voltage of the main contact of the contactor should be greater than or equal to the rated voltage of the load. The rated current of the main contact of the High voltage DC Contactor should be greater than or equal to 1.3 times the rated current of the load. The number and type of contacts of the contactor should meet the requirements of the control circuit.
Pay attention to the operating frequency of the High voltage DC Contactor, which is the number of times the contacts are on and off per hour. When the on-off current of the contactor is large and the on-off pre-rate exceeds the specified value, the High voltage DC Contactor model with a high rated current should be selected. Otherwise, the contacts will be seriously heated, or even welded together, causing the motor and other loads to run without phase.
